An interview to The Laboratory podcast (Kan 11) in which we discuss the historical milestones, such as the collapse of Soviet Communism, which led to societies' engagement in transitional justice efforts. This engagement was associated with the rise of new identity needs that led, on the one hand, to what several scholars have referred to as "the age of apology" and, on the other hand, to the current 'victimhood culture', in which a victim status must be established before political claims can be advanced. We also discuss the way in which such topics are approached from a social psychological perspective, using quantitative experimental tools.
